After spending six years in the Army, including 15 months in Iraq, veteran Casey Tylek finally returned home. When he enrolled at the University of Massachusetts, however, he found there was a whole lot separating him from his peers who hadn’t served.
That’s why he created a Tumblr project called JustWarThings, in which he compares life in the civilian world to that of the armed services.
Tylek explains what life is like now:
“Sometimes when I’m in class and I hear the kids freaking out about midterms or not being able to go home, I chuckle and remember that life in the U.S. is pretty good, and it’s because of our Military that we haven’t truly seen war on our shores.”
